Personal Biography
Shahd Omar is a doctoral candidate and psychotherapist-in-training at the New School of Psychotherapy and Counseling London, with a focus on existential psychotherapy. With six years of experience working as a somatic coach, she specializes in helping people cultivate bodily awareness as a tool for transformation. She’s also experienced in working with issues around sexuality and trauma. Shahd is a Focusing professional with The International Focusing Institute (TIFI). Using an integrative approach, she is skilled in providing a space for each client to explore the narrative of their life, make meaning of their past, and explore their unique existential journey with bravery.
Shahd uses evidence-based techniques that blend empathic listening and meaningful dialogue. She fosters a trusting and reassuring environment to work through the clients’ concerns with confidence. Her therapeutic tools include movement, acting and drama techniques for self-awareness. She’s trained to apply a trauma-sensitive approach when working with concerns around on women’s health, sexual health and trauma, boundaries, consent, and body image.
Having completed the Wheel of Consent training at the School of Consent, she incorporates techniques on navigating personal boundaries into her practice. She supports clients in accessing an embodied sense of their desires and pleasure. Her approach is rooted in understanding the deeply personal and unique lived experience of each client. Shahd is passionate about fostering empowerment. Her goal is to help you find resilience by meeting yourself with a fresh set of eyes and a newfound curiosity. Shahd’s gentle, collaborative approach allows clients to ask important questions, seek challenges, and trust themselves to know the answers.
